It’s Valentine’s Day in a couple of days and if you live in a busy city like Lagos, you cannot miss the signs. It is such a Big Deal! For some it is a Do or Die affair. Others have refused to quarrel, been on their best behaviour for the past couple of weeks so that they don’t miss their Valentine’s Day gift. For some, it is their first Valentine together as a couple and oh soooo special (awwwwwwww) and for others it is their 20th Valentine together (but hopefully “not just another day”). Whatever category you fall into I know you get the drift, it is a very important date! Single Pringles I see you! *wink*
For me it is an extra extra special day. A day I can never forget. A day that was filled with a lot of pain but in retrospect, it brings me a lot of Joy. If you ask me “Sisi Yemmie, what is the craziest thing you’ve done for love”…it is this thing. Giving Birth. I had a baby two Valentine’s Day ago, in 2022. It was my 3rd C-Section (and before then I swore I would NEVER get pregnant again and that if I ever find myself on that cold operating table again “make I naked baff”). However, I did not know how I found myself there, having my stomach cut open, on Valentines Day. It is the wildest, craziest thing I’ve ever done for love because it felt like I was laying my life down to go under the knife. I never really “gisted” you about how it felt and the trauma of a 3rd c-section, I only showed highlights in my YouTube videos (you can watch here if you’re curious).
What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done for love? Please give me something lighthearted because I want to laugh. LOL. Are you going all out this Valentine? How are you spending it? I like grand gestures but I cannot disappoint as a Nigerian Woman (no, I’m not gifting my husband single and boxers this year). I do believe food is a love language and one I speak very well; a well made, no holds barred delicious lunch or dinner is sure still the way to a man’s heart, soooooo… LOL
If you’re going to be dinning in like me (instead of spending time in traffic, struggling for a seat at overbooked restaurants and eating over priced meals that digest before you get back home), consider an intimate experience like cooking for each other, as a couple. I’m offering discounts on my Cookbooks, so that you can indulge in my favourite recipes and get it right. Use the code VAL24 to get 15% off all Cookbooks. My CELEBRATE Cookbook though has the kind of Recipe’s you need to use for Valentine’s Day.
Ps. The discount code will only be valid for a short time.
All my love…
Sisi
Dear sister.
I have always loved your blog, you taught me how to make jollof rice on YouTube.
I'm a single mom of one (4years), I have never had valentines gift before neither have I been taking out. But reading this story, make me want to do something for myself and my son this valentines day, and get a gift for my twin sister from another mother.
God bless you immensely.
